Local information:

Ladyburn is situated in the heart of Ayrshire's Burns Country and is therefore a very convenient base from which to explore this historic part of Scotland. The birthplace of Robert Burns is in Alloway as are the auld Brig o' Doon and the Burns Monument.

The National Trust for Scotland's famous Culzean Castle and Country Park, Souter Johnnie's cottage in Kirkoswald, Crossraguel Abbey and the natural phenomenon known as the Croy Brae (Electric Brae) are close by. Slightly further afield are Loch Doon and Loch Trool in the Galloway Forest Park. Loch Lomond and the Trossachs are just over one hour away by car. Penkill Castle and Blairquhan Castle are open to the public at various times throughout the year.

The present owner of Kilkerran, Sir Charles Fergusson wishes to extend to the guests of Ladyburn an invitation to walk and enjoy the estate and its policies and perhaps to discover the last of a group of Silver Firs planted by Lord Kilkerran in 1707 to mark the Treaty of Union between Scotland and England.

Golf: The magnificent International Standard and Competition Courses at Tumberry are only a short drive away. The exciting new International Standard Course at Brunston Castle - only 3 miles away at Dailly - was opened in May 1992. Within three quarters of an hour's drive are the excellent courses at Troon and Prestwick.

Racing: Racing enthusiasts should note that Scotland's Premier Racecourse is at Ayr - about 15 miles away - and holds a full programme for both the Flat and National Hunt.

Fishing: Salmon fishing can easily be arranged on the Kilkerran stretch of the Water of Girvan, also elsewhere on the river and on the neighbouring River Stinchar.
Trout fishing is found in many local lochs.
Sea fishing can also be arranged out of Girvan Harbour.

Shooting: Individual guns and parties of up to 8 guns can be arranged and catered for by Ladyburn.

Aircraft: There is a private grass landing strip suitable for Light Aircraft at users' risk and by prior permission only. Helicopters, however, may land on the lawn at Ladyburn.
